We reimagined Sistina’s brand identity and digital presence, blending heritage with a modern, tactile aesthetic. The result is a cohesive brand and e-commerce experience that brings the in-store creative spirit to life online.

The Brief

Sistina is a well-established name in Malta’s art supplies scene. After decades of inspiring artists from their flagship store in Gżira and their second outlet in Sliema, the brand was ready for a new chapter - one centred around a strong online presence. Our challenge was to reimagine the brand with a refreshed identity that honoured Sistina’s legacy while creating a visually cohesive experience across both digital and physical touchpoints.

The Work

We began the project with an immersive client workshop and moodboarding phase, drawing out the themes, textures and emotional cues that have defined Sistina over the years. The new brand identity is deeply inspired by the tactility of the creative process - paint, canvas, material - and the charm of traditional spaces, borrowing visual cues from bistros and storefronts found in cities like Paris and London.


The Sistina logomark is now a refined visual signature, echoing both the artist’s canvas and the brand’s original red-framed shop signage. We complemented this with a secondary heritage mark, designed to celebrate over 30 years in the business - an emblem of trust and tradition that can be used flexibly across packaging, print and promotional assets.


Colour plays a central role in Sistina’s new look. We modernised the brand’s iconic red, expanding it into a dynamic palette that includes deeper tones and brighter accents. A secondary colour system was developed specifically for the arts and crafts segment of the business, designed to appeal to younger audiences while keeping the overall identity cohesive.


Visual storytelling was brought to life through a full imagery toolkit: photography that captures creativity in action, expressive textures, graphic shapes derived from the logomark, and custom hand-painted illustrations. Every element of the new brand is designed to feel authentic and alive, just like the people who use Sistina products every day.


To bring this identity to life online, we fully redesigned and developed Sistina’s website and online shop, translating the richness of their in-store experience into a vibrant, intuitive digital space. Built on Shopify using the flexible Ella theme, the platform showcases an extensive product range while allowing customers to explore in a way that feels natural and inspiring. We introduced dynamic, conditional filters - such as volume, colour, canvas size and brush shape - that appear only when relevant, enabling users to refine their search without friction. Visually, the site embraces bold, expressive colour drawn from Sistina’s materials, balanced with a clean, premium aesthetic. The modular structure of the theme allows the Sistina team to easily update content, launch new collections and evolve the platform over time. The result is a seamless, future-ready e-commerce experience that supports both creative discovery and long-term growth.
