Overview

When we were challenged to design and code the world’s first real-time Fantasy Football website, we knew we couldn’t drop the ball.

We designed and coded the internationally popular www.oulala.com in 2013 in close collaboration with the French creators of the site. The client came to us with a brand. Our job was to build the site while respecting brand guidelines.

Oulala was launching the innovative option of picking players from five leagues as opposed to one. Our design ensured that this task was simple and clear to those clicking their team into action. The biggest challenge took place behind the screen. Apart from providing a tailored CMS for the website, we had to come up with a system to ensure that match updates were visible on the site in real time and not once the match was over – as was the case with other Fantasy Football sites.

We worked with a third-party data provider that dished out 80 stats per player per minute for each and every match. We then linked those rolling statistics to the front-end, making results available to players within minutes.

We also created the Oulala iOS and Android apps to support the website, using Oulala’s signature orange and black to punctuate the slick and clean design for both platforms.

The website was launched in August 2013. The design process was featured on Web Design Served.
